Audition Information

We understand that auditions can be the most challenging part about joining a new musical ensemble. Treat this time like a friendly mini voice lesson. We promise that you will feel welcome and we will start from whatever your level of ability.

For all of our choirs, commitment is key. You will be presented with a draft schedule for upcoming season at your audition. Singers are expected to participate in rehearsals and performances throughout the year, barring illness, family emergency, or similar unexpected circumstances. 

For Kikimasu (ages 8 to 12):

As a children's choir, Kikimasu's 5-minute audition process is very simple and low-pressure. Each child will:
  • sing a short song, unaccompanied (something from school, Happy Birthday, or O Canada are fine)
  • sing some simple vocal exercises to evaluate the child's vocal timbre and ability to match pitch
Parents or guardians will also have a brief interview with the organization's administrator to review the season schedule, the organization's structure, volunteer expectations, and to answer any questions that parents/guardians have about the choir or the organization.   

Auditions for 2012/13 will take place in June and September. Stay posted for details and sign-ups in May!
